Hectare to Acre Converter
Convert hectares to acres or acres to hectares, one value or a whole list, with a ready table of common sizes.

How to use the hectare to acre converter
- Open the Convert menu and choose “Hectares → acres” or “Acres → hectares”.
- Type your area in the box that appears: Area in hectares (ha) or Area in acres. The defaults are 10 ha and 25 acres.
- Read the result rows. The unit you typed is not repeated. You see the converted value (Acres or Hectares (ha)), then Square meters (m²) and Square feet (ft²).
- Open How it was calculated under the result to see the formula with your own numbers.
- For several areas, open More options and paste them into List of values (one per line). Enter them in the unit you are converting from. A table “Your list” is added with the converted value, m² and ft² for each line.
- Below, the table “Hectares and acres side by side” lists 1 to 10, 20, 50 and 100 in both directions.
- Click an example button above the form, such as “1 ha → acres”, “40 ha → acres”, “160 acres → ha” or “640 acres → ha”, to check a known result.
- Click Reset to restore the default values.
Copy result copies the result lines with a link. Copy link copies the page address, which holds every input, so the same calculation reopens later. Print / save as PDF prints the inputs, results, steps and date.
How many acres are in a hectare?
One hectare is about 2.47105 acres. The exact value comes from the definitions: 1 hectare is 10,000 m², and 1 acre is 4,046.8564224 m². Dividing 10,000 by 4,046.8564224 gives 2.4710538 acres per hectare, so “1 ha to acre”, “one hectare in acre” and “1 hectare into acre” all give the same answer.
A hectare is a square of 100 m by 100 m. Ten hectares is about 24.71 acres, and 100 hectares is about 247.1 acres, which is 1 km².
What is the conversion from hectare to acre?
The conversion from hectare to acre is a multiplication: acres = hectares × 2.47105. For example, 2.5 ha × 2.47105 = 6.1776 acres, which matches the tool’s result for that value. Rounding matters for large areas. Multiplying 40 ha by 2.47105 gives 98.842 acres, so keep enough decimal places for your purpose.
If you want hectares to acres to m2, the tool shows the area in square meters as well: 1 ha is 10,000 m², which is about 2.47105 acres.
How is the conversion of acres into hectares done?
For the conversion of acres into hectares, multiply the number of acres by 0.404686. For example, 160 acres × 0.404686 = 64.75 ha, and 640 acres × 0.404686 = 259 ha. If you convert 64.75 ha back to acres, you get about 160 acres again. The side-by-side table on the page works as a conversion table for acres to hectares.
What is the hectare to acre formula?
The formula is acres = hectares × 2.47105, or hectares = acres × 0.404686. Both come from the same two definitions: 1 ha = 10,000 m² and 1 acre = 4,046.8564224 m².
If you already have an area in square meters, divide it by 4,046.8564224 to get acres. For a 10 ha field, that is 100,000 m² ÷ 4,046.8564224 = 24.71054 acres, the same result the tool gives by default.
Hectare to ekar, hektar to ekar and other spellings
In Malay, hektar is hectare and ekar is acre, so “hectare to ekar”, “hektar to ekar” and “hektar convert to ekar” ask for the same conversion as this page. The Spanish “hectareas a acres” (hectáreas a acres) is the same too. Searches written as “conversation hectares to acres” or “conversation acres to hectares” are misspellings of conversion. The tool itself is in English, but the numbers are the same in every language.

Frequently asked questions
Is the converter free, and is anything I type uploaded?
Yes, the converter is free and needs no sign-up. It runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded.
Can I use the results in commercial work such as quotes and bids?
Yes. Results, steps and printouts can be used in any work, including commercial work such as quotes, bids, invoices, spray records and nutrient plans. No attribution is needed.
What does the warning “That is more than ten million. Check that the unit is right.” mean?
The tool shows this when the area you entered is above ten million. It is often a sign that the unit is wrong, for example hectares entered in the acres box, so check the unit before you use the result.
What happens if I enter zero?
If the area is zero, the tool shows the warning “The area is zero, so every result is zero.” Every result will be zero until you enter a non-zero area.
Can I convert many areas at once?
Yes. Open More options and paste the areas into List of values (one per line), using the unit you are converting from. The tool adds a table of results for the list.
Which results does the tool show?
It shows the converted value (Acres or Hectares (ha)), Square meters (m²) and Square feet (ft²). The unit you typed is not shown again.
Does the converter tell me how much fertilizer or seed to apply per acre?
No. It converts areas and does not recommend rates. Use the product label, a soil test, an agronomist, your extension service or a veterinarian for the actual recommendation.
